JAIPUR: The draft Jaipur declaration of Congress party has called on all secular and progressive forces to unite in ideological battle against those who polarize and divide society.
The draft says that the party will go to the people on the basis of performance of UPA govt, the promise of stability and good governance and restatement of its core values.
Addressing the party meeting on the last day at the chintan shivir on Sunday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi outlined the road ahead for the party.
Expressing happiness at the large participation of youth leaders, she said it was a positive sign for the party.
Sonia said the party should deal with corruption effectively.
She stressed the need for electoral reforms.
The Congress president said she will press for passage of Women's Reservation Bill.
The barbaric Delhi gang-rape case has shaken the conscience of the country, Sonia said.
She said the death of the victim will not go in vain.
Sonia slammed the comments against women made by political leaders in the recent past.
